"Losing weight" is a goal for lots of people. But that’s the end result of many different factors that need to get addressed.
Unfortunately, people only focus on diet and exercise. It is the foundation, but most people aren’t doing it correctly.
The goal is to reset your metabolism. This ultimately means that your cells are functioning efficiently (aka the food/energy you consume is used for cellular function rather than being stored away)
Step 1️⃣: tell your body it doesn’t need to store energy. The food you consume tells a story. High carbohydrate meals trigger insulin. Insulin is a storage hormone. When insulin is around, your body doesn’t burn fat for energy.
Step 2️⃣: give your body optimal sources of energy. Fast burning fuel sources will become depleted faster. Nutrient lacking foods will not satisfy cellular needs. It’s like using gasoline on a fire...you get a quick burst, but the fire dies out just as quick...versus using a big wooden log. Stop fueling with highly processed foods...stop with the trans fats...choose lower glycemic foods.
Step 3️⃣: learn what your body likes and doesn’t like. You can experiment with foods (aka elimination diet)...or get more specific using a lab test. I’ve just begun using a new lab that has the most specific dietary antigen test I’ve ever seen. Cyrex panel or Dunwoody Lab 588G panel are the two that I use frequently.
Step 4️⃣: get an oil change. The cell membranes are all made of fat. If the membranes don’t function properly the cells don’t process energy properly. Eat more small fishes, avocado, coconut oils, macadamia nuts...
Step 5️⃣: get moving. This isn’t just about burning of calories (which is minimal) but more so about improving your hormonal profile and increasing insulin sensitivity! You also produce Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). This keeps your brain from shrinking which tends to happen as you age. And since the brain is sort of crucial for body function 😉, you want it to function at optimal levels!
Well, there it is. Easy peasy! 😂😬
